My English pack follows the DEFRA standard requirements for Home Boarding and Home Day Care. I am happy to offer a pack for home boarders in Wales or Scotland on request, these take a little more customisation as the local authorities do not follow a standard guidance template, however I can write a pack that meets the specific requirements of your local council if you have a copy of the council guidance.
The 14 templates have been created in Microsoft Word and are fully amendable.
PROCEDURE MANUAL TEMPLATE:
This is around 150 questions that make you think about your business from the perspective of the DEFRA guidance and helps you to make a statement about every subject that DEFRA have a view on. It is structured into a handbook format and groups subjects together into a personalised, logical framework. Whilst a little bit daunting to get started, lots of the answers are written within the DEFRA guidance itself, so you just need to tick off the guidance as you go. You are already doing most of these things (as they are common sense) but DEFRA want procedures to prove that you understand the rules, and also for someone to follow and look after the dogs if (heaven forbid) something happens and you cannot be at home as planned.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS TEMPLATE:
The Service Agreement document contains rules and client policies for you to tweak or amend to suit your business. This covers many of the mandatory consents. Ensure that you choose rules for your business that are considered fair to both parties, or they would be overridden if an unhappy client took the issue to court.
The following forms cover all of the DEFRA customer consent requirements written into the guidance.

There are also some OPTIONAL VERSIONS OF FORMS for those who prefer spreadsheets, plus any extras that I have made because individual councils have asked for something different. You do not need these to apply for a licence, but you might like to add some on just for personal use.
What isn’t in the pack:
~ The floor plan of your house. I can draw these for an additional fee if you want to send through a rough drawing with measurements, but most people find a house for sale on Rightmove and pinch the floorplan… adjusting to make it match their house exactly.
~ Your statement of relevant experience, list of training completed or method of proving your knowledge and experience. I am happy to look your statement over once complete, and will give pointers if it needs padding out. Note that 'I have owned dogs all my life' is not what the inspector is looking for, they are looking for jobs and courses where your skills have been overseen and assessed.
~ Appraisal and training record forms if you have staff.
Note: You must have access to Microsoft Word or Microsoft 365 to make the required changes to your templates. Documents can also be amended in Google Docs with some additional adjustments to the table formats. Alternatively, I can make the changes for you and send you PDF copies of your finished documents instead..
